  1. Hope everyone is nearly finished with their Christmas preparations!

Cavy Couture will continue to post orders up until the 15th December. Any orders placed after 15th December will not be posted until Tuesday 3rd January. Between these dates, all customers who place orders will receive email notification  of the above fact, and if they wish to cancel their order, may do so by email and will receive a refund within 24 hours.

Please be aware that as I will be staying with family, I will be checking emails morning and evenings only, so please do not be alarmed if I do not reply immediately.

    Happy Holidays Everyone!
  2. I'm sorry to announce that we now ship only to the UK. Many of our international packages are being lost or damaged, and so we are losing a great deal by selling outside of the UK.
Please do not request that we ship outside of the UK - we do not under any circumstances.

  3. It's getting to be that time of year again!
Here at Cavy Couture we are hard at work producing those essenital winter pet accessories, including Christmas gifts for pets and people, Christmas cards, and of course, many many heat pad covers for the long cold winter!

The Cavy Couture Winter Wonderland will be opening sometime in September - check back soon for more information!

  4. This weekend we are working on a batch of washer bags and a batch of black stock, including pink spot, red spot, plain red and cow print cottons!
Most items will likely be up for sale next weekend!

We are also stocking some more patterned fleeces for heat pad covers and blankets, so check back soon!

  5. Hey there fellow pet enthusiasts! The following is an update to the Cavy Couture Way - how we work, what happens when etc.

Cavy Couture is run by myself (Amy), in the time I have spare from my PHD. A chemistry PHD is a full time (9am-7pm) occupation, and as such, I work on Cavy Couture on most weekends only.
On the first weekend of the month, I do a stock check, to see what we have, and what we need to make most. Then I prepare a batch of stock, which will be sewn on the following weekend.

Each batch of stock contains approximately the following items -
    - 3 jumbo cozies, 4 large cozies, 4 medium cozies, 4 medium hedgie bags, 3 cuddler beds, 3 tunnels, 2 corner hammocks, 2 heat pad covers.

After the stock has been sewn, it is photographed, packed away, and displayed in our shop for purchase! The following weekend, we go back to preparing another batch of stock!

I try to keep each batch of stock different from the last, so we dont, for example, end up with only pink stock available for purchase! Sometimes we do run out of stock, but we are unable to do anything about this until the following weekend. We are always aware of our stock levels of various products, so please rest assured that when an item is out of stock, or very low stock, we will re-stock at the soonest time possible.

This is the Cavy Couture way, and will be indefinitely.
  6. I am now on holiday from university for ten days, and there is a lot of stock currently in production, including -

    - waterproof blankets
    - heat pad covers
    - cuddler beds
    - 1 batch of blue flames stock
    - 1 batch of green flowers stock
    - 1 batch of purple licorice allsorts stock

Most items will be available at the end of next week (approximately 29th April).

Tomorrow we are also going shopping for some cute new fleeces for more patterned heat pad covers and blankets!

    See you soon!
  7. Freshfields Animal Rescue Centre are holding a Bunny Bonanza on 25th April, 12-4pm.

There will be loads of great stuff for the kids to see and do!

Chucky Dip, raffle, craft stalls and all the usual fun and frocklics at our annual event and new for this year at 2pm talk, kids intruduction to respecting and caring for wild life.

Entrace fee ; £1 per adult and 50p for children.

Freshfields have also got a large number of single neutered male piggies looking for wives and homes to go to. Why not contact them if you live nearby and have room for another piggy in your life?

  8. Here are Cavy Couture we do take the occasional weekend off, sometimes for a much needed recharge of our batteries, and sometimes to develop new products! This weekend we've been working on some prototypes of crafty items (bookmarks, card sets etc), ideal for gifts or just for spoiling yourself (I know I will be)!

This is just as well, as I am currently unable to sew due to a nasty wrist burn from the lab!
Lots of people have an odd idea of what studying for a PHD entails, so I thought I'd give a brief explanation. In the Chemistry and Biochemistry areas at least, a PHD involves performing as much lab-based research as is possible within 3-4 years on an assigned topic. We are expected to make the most of this oppotunity, working long hours (9-5 is considered by many scientists as uncommitted), and if you are as clumsy as me, aquiring many wounds on the way!

We've decided this weekend to sponsor one of the Cavy Corner piggies, Bumble. At only £2 per month, we're very excited to be able to help out a piggy from a less fortunate background.
Many guinea pig rescues have a sponsorship scheme - your chosen piggy may write to you, send cards, and you usually receive a photo too. Why not consider helping out one of these poor piggies?

We're sorry to report that we have had to increase some of our prices - oddly, while the price of fleece has remained stable in our current climate, the prices of cotton and wadding have increased substantially! We try to keep our prices low and affordable for our customers, and for this reason, we have not altered the prices of our hammocks, washer bags, fleecey bedding or crafty items (these items will be affected least by the rising price of materials).

Next weekend will see the release of a batch of stock made with black fleece, and some multi-coloured piggy pyramids!
